PickupTrucks.com's November 2010 article comparing the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD to a 2011 Ford Superduty HD will help make choosing Chevrolet over Ford for heavy hauling a easy decision for all but the most blindly devoted Ford fans. With the help of Diesel Power, PickupTrucks.com matched two dealer purchased trucks in a run up and down a 7.6 mile run up and down 2,224 feet in the Colorado Rockies.
On the way up the Chev beat the Ford by over 2 minutes ( 8 minutes vs. 10 minutes). On the way down the driver of the Ford used his brake 11 to 14 times per descent in spite of Ford's exhaust brake. The Chev drive only applied his brake one to two times per descent.

VORTEC 6.0L V-8 AND 6L90 SIX-SPEED COMBINATION DELIVERS EFFICIENT, INTEGRATED PERFORMANCE IN NEW CHEVROLET SILVERADO HD TRUCKS
PONTIAC, Mich. - From its inception 55 years ago, the small-block V-8 has been a dependable workhorse for millions of truck customers. That heritage continues with the new 2011 Chevy Silverado heavy-duty trucks, which come standard with the Vortec 6.0L V-8 that is revised for improved performance.
Chevrolet's 2011 Heavy-Duty TRUCKS Build on Proven Strong Heritage with New Duramax 6.6L TURBO Diesel Engine
PONTIAC, Mich. - Two factors reign supreme for heavy-duty truck owners: torque and durability. With nearly 1.3 million Duramax diesel engines put into operation since its launch in 2000, no other automaker has as much diesel engine development experience for meeting the demands of the heavy-duty truck customer as General Motors. For 2011, that bar has been raised with the new Duramax 6.6L turbo diesel V-8, which debuts on the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD launching this summer.
