5 STAR SAFETY? BETTER CHECK THE FACTS FOR THE WHOLE STORY
You may have noticed that RAM has recently incorporated a 5 Star Safety call out in their newsprint ads. It may not be apparent that this 5 Star references their side impact rating only (Quad and Crew Cab), a rating which GM and F-150 also share. But, you need to look at the complete 2011MY NHTSA test results below to get the TRUE safety story (these side impact ratings apply to 2012MY vehicles but RAM’s 2012 Overall Ratings aren’t yet available).
OVERALL RATING:
2011MY Silverado/Sierra Light Duty Crew Cab 4X4 ties F-150 Super Crew 4X4 with an Overall 4 Star rating while RAM only achieves a 3 Star rating.
FRONTAL CRASH RATING: When you review the detail below, you’ll see GM’s Crew Cabs take the lead in the Frontal crash test with a 4 Star rating vs. ONLY 2 STAR for RAM and a 3 Star for F-150.
ROLLOVER RATING:
Our Chev and GMC post another winning 4 Star rating vs. RAM and F-150’s 3 Stars.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
Silverado/Sierra handily beat both F-150 and RAM when it comes to NHTSA Safety ratings (complete details for all Cab styles are available at www.safercar.gov):
